SUMMARY:Monarch Tagging with Indiana Wildlife Federation
DESCRIPTION:Join CILTI staff and Indiana Wildlife Federation for a hands-on community science event at Betley Woods at Glacier’s End to help document the monarchs’ fall migration. \n\n\nThe Monarch Watch Tagging Program is a large-scale community science project that was initiated in 1992 to help understand the dynamics of the monarch’s spectacular fall migration through mark and recapture. \nAt this event\, staff will train attendees to gently capture monarch butterflies in butterfly nets and affix a small numbered sticker to the hindwing. We welcome those who identify as Black\, allies\, and anyone interested in an inclusive outdoor experience. \nWe’ll join Doug Gray and Dudley Edmondson to go birding in Betley Woods at Glacier’s End\, a stunning preserve offering safe harbor for countless species. This is a rare chance to enjoy birding in one of our region’s most biodiverse places with two seasoned birders. \n\n\nAll Ages \nPlease RSVP so we know to expect you. \nWhat to Expect and Bring: \n\nThis hike is considered moderate with a few inclines.
