Your time is one of the greatest gifts you can give to the Central Indiana Land Trust. Whatever your skill level or interest, there are many ways to contribute to our mission.
Volunteer Field Days
Many volunteers help care for our special natural areas, working side-by-side with our stewardship professionals. You can help with periodic maintenance and restoration work essential to the proper conservation of our properties. Central Indiana Land Trust volunteers of all ages gather on “field days” in the spring and fall to help with activities such as planting trees, installing trail markers, removing invasive plants and picking up litter. In addition to getting work done on these days, we often take a guided walk after our work is done. Visit our Upcoming Events page for a list of volunteer days planned.
Corporate or Group Volunteering
The Central Indiana Land Trust works closely with the local businesses and community groups to offer large group volunteer opportunities. Groups may arrange their own volunteer event or join an existing event. If you are interested in learning how your group can organize an activity, contact Traci Willis at 317-631-5263 or twillis@conservingindiana.org.
Site Stewards
Each of our properties benefits from one or more Site Stewards who monitor it on a quarterly basis and report to our professional stewardship staff on any changes or activities observed at the site. These reports help us shape our field days and plan for stewardship activities. Site stewards also act as the eyes and ears of our properties. These volunteers are imperative to the work of maintaining and protecting our natural areas. If you’re interested in learning more about being a Site Steward, please contact Jamison Hutchins at 406-546-7244 or jhutchins@conservingindiana.org.
