Caring for the Land

Caring for the land requires a combination of stewardship, vigilance and manual labor. The Central Indiana Land Trust promises to be an active steward of its lands – forever. We carefully monitor the conservation values of our nature preserves and conservation easements, and work with landowners, volunteers and other conservation organizations to protect them.

Each of our preserves has a management plan based on science and the best interests of the land and region. We monitor for rare and endangered species, as well as invasive and exotic ones, working to restore and preserve the best of Central Indiana. And you can help: We rely on a dedicated group of volunteers – Wednesday Warriors, corporate volunteers, university groups, families and more – to complete much of our stewardship.
