“Opt outside” on the day after Thanksgiving: Join our President for a guided hike through a beautiful preserve addition newly protected by our team.
Once again on Black Friday, we’ll host our popular Thanksgiving weekend hike. This year we are hosting two guided hikes on opposite sides of the state. This hike will take place at the newly protected Addition to the Portland Arch Nature Preserve in Fountain County.
Explore a 67-acre parcel first sought by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources 50 years ago. Its stunning sandstone cliffs, rolling forests, and creeks are safe forever. The property will be donated to the people of Indiana and managed by the DNR.
- All Ages
- Please RSVP so we know to expect you.
What to Expect and Bring:
- The trail will be rugged and steep in some areas, and possibly muddy.
- Dress for the weather and be sure to wear pants thick enough to stand up to thorns, brush, poison ivy, ticks, and the cold (unfortunately leggings aren’t very protective).
- Wear closed-toed shoes that can stand up to mud.
- Bring a water bottle, preferably refillable.
- There are no public restrooms on site.
