Join us for the Golden Hour Summer Series at Oliver’s Woods. In July, we’ll learn about fireflies.
Did you know that Indiana’s state insect is Say’s Firefly? Dr. Sérgio Henriques, a conservationist with the Indianapolis Zoo, will share fireflies’ importance in the ecosystem. Learn how to help these iconic insects while exploring Oliver’s Woods to look for the fireflies that make this preserve their home.

Directions: Oliver’s Woods is located at 8825 River Road Indianapolis, Indiana. Please park in the parking lot adjacent to I-465 and follow the trail to the discussion circle. Please plan to arrive on time.
More Information: Dr. Sérgio Henriques is Invertebrate Conservation Coordinator for the Global Center for Species Survival, a partnership between the Indianapolis Zoo and the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Species Survival Commission. As the chair of the organization’s Spider and Scorpion Specialist Group, Dr. Henriques uses his more than 20 years of experience mobilizing resources to promote invertebrate conservation.
