COUNTY: Marion | ACRES: 52 NEAREST CITY: Camby
This partially wooded property near the Indianapolis International Airport is being restored as a nature preserve. Many volunteers have helped plant trees and remove invasive plants since we received the land in 2013.
Preserving this land forever benefits endangered Indiana bats. This preserve is part of a larger area that is the most important summer habitat for Indiana bats in the entire state. We are managing part of the property as forest, while enhancing forested wetland habitat in another portion with oak-dominated overstory and open understory.
At this time only a portion of the property is open to the public with a small area for parking and a gravel trail.
History of the Property
The land was donated by real estate developer Holladay Properties in 2013 and named after founder Wallace F. Holladay.
Planning your Visit
This is a pocket of nature in a highly industrial region. The area currently open to the public is along Flynn Road. There is a gravel parking lot and the area is open to explore. While there is not yet a loop, you can walk west to the road and turn back. You can also walk north across a foot bridge and walk the sidewalks along the other side of Flynn Creek.
