Join us for the Golden Hour Summer Series at Oliver’s Woods. In August, we’ll be learning about cranes that live in Indiana: the Sandhill Crane and the endangered Whooping Crane. Mary Callaghan of the International Crane Foundation will discuss how to identify the two species, their life history, current and historic threats they face, and how you can help protect these beloved birds.

- Ages: All are welcome.

What to Expect:
- The presentation will take place inside the Daugherty House.
- Park in the lot adjacent to I-465 and follow the trail to the house.
- Trails are unpaved but fairly level.
- Accessible parking is available by the Daugherty House, with access to a crushed gravel trail.
What to Bring:
- Dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes suitable for mud.
- Optional: Bring sun and insect protection, and a water bottle.
About Mary:
Mary Callaghan is an Assistant Outreach Biologist for the International Crane Foundation. Her work aims to educate Indiana communities on Whooping and Sandhill cranes, their habitats, and how we can all work together to mitigate threats that these birds face. She is responsible for monitoring populations of these species on their wintering grounds across Indiana, most importantly tracking movements of the endangered Whooping Crane.
