We invite you to join us on Saturday October 24 at Meltzer Woods in Shelbyville.  We are proud to celebrate 10 years of welcoming the public to this beautiful nature preserve.  We follow a legacy of care and stewardship by the Meltzer Family through many generations, and are so pleased to continue their passion for natural conservation.

Join us at 10:00am for a short program about the property and the family who championed the preservation of one of the oldest forests in the state.  After the program, we invite you to join our President/CEO, Cliff Chapman, for a guided nature walk. You are also welcome to explore the preserve on your own.

RSVPs are requested. Please click this link to save your spot.

What to bring if you plan to join the nature walk:

  • Dress in weather-appropriate clothing.
  • Wear long, thick pants and socks to protect from brush, ticks, mosquitoes, and poison ivy.
  • Wear closed-toed shoes that can withstand mud and uneven terrain.
  • Bring a water bottle (or two); there is no water fountain onsite.
  • Optional: A backpack or bag for extra water, clothing layers.
  • Optional: a hiking stick or trekking poles for balance, if needed.
  • Optional: sun and bug protection as needed.
